Sylvia went to Manor House School for her early education from 1985 to 1998, where she earned her IGCSE or International General Certificate of Secondary Education. It was in this school that molded her to become fluent in the English language (both American and British), and prepared for her baccalaureate degree later. After graduation, Sylvia studied at the Faculty of Fine Arts and specialized in Set Design, where she finished her Bachelor of Science in Art, major in Décor in 2003.
It was in 2012 when she got her certificate from the reputable London KLC School of Design, where she studied from February to April 2012 to fast track her employment in both residential and commercial interior design and enhance her entrepreneurial skills. Sylvia graduated from Fine Arts and KLC School of Design with a Merit Grade. As a full-time student, she was able to develop additional skills by learning the fundamentals of interior designing in this short period of time. Among the skills that Sylvia has learned and developed, include:
● Technical Skills-This covers surveying a space, lettering & titling, drawing plans, elevations & sections, free- hand sketching and conventions for technical drawing.
● Presentation skills-This covers sample boards, rendering and introduction, watercolor rendering, shading techniques and verbal presentation.
● Technical understanding-This encompasses lighting design, building construction, environmental issues, color explained and the power of color.
● Materials & finishes-This tackles sourcing & developing a scheme, sourcing in the design center, upholstery, textiles & trimming, window treatments, wall covering, paint, decorative paint finishes, flooring, and hard materials.
● The design process & proposals-This covers design process, concept, scale planning & ergonomics, principles of design, kitchen design, and bathroom design.
● History of French styles-This study about Louis XIV style 1660-1715, 18th century and 19th Century.
After she finished her college education, Sylvia landed her first job at Dimension in the summer of 1998 as an interior designer’s assistant. She moved to Studio Misr in August 2003 to work as an assistant set designer until November in the same year. She rested for three months until she got an offer to work at Egyston as an interior designer in February 2004 until April 2004. Sylvia worked at the Alson School as an Art Department assistant from April 2004 until June 2005. After her short stint at Alson, she got a position as an Interior Designer & Project Coordinator at Coldwell Banker from June 2005 to December 2005. Not content with her work, Sylvia decided to leave Coldwell Banker and worked at Living in Interiors as an interior designer, coordinator and Fabric & Material Specialist, rolled into one from April 2006 until 2011. During this period, she had numerous projects to add to her growing portfolio, namely:

● Mrs. Samira Al Kordy- North coast: snag list.

While working at Living in Interiors, from 2009 to 2011, Sylvia was able to work as a Fabric & Material Specialist for various clients. Her responsibilities include fabric and material selection, fabric and material boards and Spec Sheets for projects and clients, such as:

With her vast work experience and track record in interior designing, this brilliant lady started building her own business after obtaining her Certificate Residential Interior Design from KLC London School of Design. She is the Luxury Design House owner and founder of Diseño Interiors, a business she built in January 2010 until present. Diseño Interiors is a popular design house located in the heart of Cairo. They specialize on both residential and commercial projects. Under her management, she has earned the respect from her colleagues in the industry and able to create a wide clientele. Amongst her famous client is Mrs. Reem Hayaty of Mina Garden City, which is a 240 acre real estate project that covers 800 villas, town houses and twin houses in Cairo. Sylvia is responsible in putting up the furniture plan, elevations, lighting plan, mood board, furniture design, lighting selection, window treatment, fabric and material selection for its home office, and lighting selection and curtain box design for its salon. Her notable works include the interiors of Lago Vista Villa, Gouna-Sabrina and S. H. Residence.
Apart from her current position as a business owner, the effervescent Sylvia is affiliated with the Syndicate of Plastic Arts, the Egyptian National committee, the International Association of Art, and UNESCO. To keep herself updated with technology, Sylvia sees to it that she is excellent in AutoCAD 2D, Photoshop, Windows/Mac OS and Microsoft Office. She needed these skills in creating her designs and blueprint to show to her growing clientele. With her accomplishment as an expert in all aspects of interior designing, business skills and computer savvy, Sylvia Hany Samy’s journey to reach her goal will never end as she believes that learning is a continuous process.
